Holland Easter Open

April 2-5th 2021

The Easter Open is a two-day international youth football tournament, for boys and girls.

This event didn’t happen in 2020 because of the Coronavirus but in 2019 a total of 450 teams entered from Australia, Denmark, Wales, Germany, USA, England, Morocco, Finland, Scotland, South Africa and of course the Netherlands. Teams have also previously taken part from Luxemburg, Russia, Columbia, Belgium, Nigeria, Japan, Norway and Ireland. One of the great things about this tournament you get the chance to play against teams from different countries.

The tournament will be played over the Easter weekend, Saturday and Sunday. In total there will be 50 excellent grass pitches in use over the weekend. On Saturday the group-stage matches will be played on random grounds. On Sunday each age group plays off in their final games at the same pitches. Every team plays either 5 or 6 matches.

The Accommodation

Participating teams will stay at Resort Arcen a park we use in the area specifically for this event. You will have access to the varied facilities at the parks, these include a Subtropical swimming pool, mega large outdoor playground, petting zoo, mini-golf, football cage, basketball court, tennis court and outdoor theatre,

Each of our groups stays in 6 berth ‘ Buitenverblijf’ chalets with beautiful décor, air conditioning and all comforts in a Car-free section of the park. They feature a Living room and an open kitchen. Bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Three bedrooms, two with two single beds and one with a semi-high bed. Terrace, free wireless internet, flat-screen TV, a dishwasher, microwave and a DVD player.

Try good food in the family restaurant in the park. Take a drink on the panoramic terrace or in the bar. Enjoy the Sun Terrace by the gourmet palace overlooking the playground, petting zoo and miniature golf. Find it all in and around the centre building ‘Arceleum’.

The park is within easy reach of the tournament pitches.

The Area
Venlo

Arcen itself is a lively village well known for various tourist attractions, the cozy Town Hall square, the castle gardens and the Hertog-Jan brewery, however the main town in the area is Venlo.

Venlo is a city right on the German border. It’s the go-to place for shopping and services for people from the wide region, including the neighbouring German Ruhr area.  Although the town centre sustained a lot of damage in WWII, however in recent years, the city has heavily invested in re-vamping the town centre, creating new shopping boulevards and improving infrastructure.

The Vleesstraat has most of the major chain stores, and at the end of it you’ll find the so-called “German quarter”, with many German oriented shops. Along the Parade, de Jodenstraat and Gasthuisstraat you’ll find more boutiques and small speciality shops.

Getting There

You have a choice of ways to get there, either a coach will pick up your group at your home base and stay with you for the duration of your tour. Ferry travel from Dover-Calais is included if you choose to travel by coach. We can take you by another ferry route if you wish, ask us for a costing.
