About The Area
Vallgorguina Dolmen

Tordera is a town on the edge of the Montnegre natural park which covers 15,000 hectares of unspoilt nature and millennia of history.

It was one of the settlements of the old Neolithic tribes on the Mediterranean coast – its elevated position enabled them to observe the adjoining lands.

Moreover, thanks to its natural richness it is
inhabited by different animal and vegetable species. It is a protected area and recommended for activities such as hiking, bird watching,
trekking, rural tourism or simply to enjoy nature.

There are several places worth seeing. One of the most famous is Vallgorguina Dolmen, a megalithic construction that, throughout history, has been considered a centre of spiritual energy, and is
usually visited by enthusiasts of ancient monuments and adepts of the occult.

Surrounding towns include Malgrat (5 miles away), Santa Susanna (6 miles away), Lloret de Mar (8 miles away and Calella (9 miles away). Your group could be based in a hotel in any of these places so here is a little about each.

Malgrat de Mar offers more than 4.5 kilometres of spacious white sand beaches with every convenience needed for you to spend a day by the sea.
Take a stroll around the old town centre and find architectural sites like the 18th-century Church of Sant Nicolau or the late 19th-century Peixateries Velles (old fish market). Another interesting place is La Pilona, a rocky platform in the middle of the sea, which a century ago was used for loading cargoes of iron.

Malgrat de Mar also boasts the Castell Park (with views that are well worth seeing) and the Frances Macià Park (with sculpture, botanical tours, playgrounds and picnic areas). If you are interested in traditional cuisine, try the ‘ganxet’ beans.

It also bears the ‘Family Holiday Destination’ brand thanks to a range of accommodation, restaurants and leisure activities especially suited to children.

Santa Susanna

Santa Susanna
This quiet village offers two kilometres of broad beaches, with clean, golden sand, surrounded by pine groves.

It’s Marine Resort has a range of services and facilities, offering many different water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving, amongst others.

Furthermore, Santa Susanna is one of the Maresme villages that conserves the most ancient watchtowers. They were built from the 15th to 18th centuries to defend against pirate attacks and, of the seven still in existence, two can be visited, one is currently home to the railway station and the rest have been incorporated in private houses.

Lloret De Mar

Lloret de Mar
With a deep seaside tradition, today it is one of the largest tourist centres on Girona’s seafront.

Beaches and coves with clear water combine with an interesting historic centre. Terraces, bars and restaurants help you to enjoy the Catalan night, making it possible to taste the region’s products.
The coves with incredible sea beds are suitable for diving, whilst the town itself offers several broad sandy beaches.

Take a walk around the historic centre, where the layout of an old seaside village awaits you. The Promenade brings together nineteenth-century and modernist houses, while elsewhere, the church of Sant Romà, the hermitage of Santa Cristina and the monument to the Woman Sailor await you.
